Abstract: The logistics industry in Pune has undergone rapid transformation, driven by globalization, technological advancement, and evolving customer expectations. While technical competencies remain fundamental, soft skills have emerged as equally critical for sustaining service excellence and operational efficiency. This study investigates the effectiveness and challenges of soft skills training in Pune’s logistics sector. It aims to evaluate the current state of training programs, assess employee perceptions, and identify gaps between required and existing soft skill levels. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining qualitative case studies and expert interviews with quantitative surveys from employees and HR professionals in medium to large logistics firms. The analysis revealed that although most organizations offer some form of soft skills training—primarily focused on communication and customer service—the content often lacks industry relevance and practical orientation. Key findings indicate that effective training can lead to a 18–25% improvement in client satisfaction and up to 20% reduction in conflict resolution time, yet time constraints, generic content, and lack of integration with performance systems remain major barriers. Employees reported increased confidence (76%) and better teamwork (68%) following training but expressed the need for more contextual, scenario-based modules. The study concludes that blended learning models, contextual training design, performance-linked outcomes, and continuous feedback mechanisms significantly enhance the impact of soft skills programs. The research offers a framework of scalable, sector-specific recommendations to integrate soft skills into human resource development strategies, positioning logistics firms for improved productivity, service quality, and employee engagement.
